BEMENDA, Cameroon - Greetings from this part of the world. I am glad to inform you for the one day Opportunity Education Seminar held at St. Bayelle, on Saturday, 19th September, 2015. The objective of the seminar was to promote practical teaching and learning with the use of Opportunity education gadgets. There were four presentations during the seminar on the following topics:
- Why some teachers are not making good use of the didactic materials
- Handling of adversities in the implementation of Lessons of Opportunity Education
- Managing Opportunity Education Gadgets
- A workshop and General Discussion
During the seminar I carried out a survey on the question "are supplemental DVD's necessary?" and I came out with these results:
- Twenty participants answered with a simple yes
- Whereas seven others said that the DVD's were very useful
At the end of the seminar, I was very satisfied with the facilitators and the participants. I am hopeful that this year will be a year with a difference in the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
The teachers and pupils of Mambu Bafut are anxiously waiting for a new TV Screen and DVD player I promised them. This I will purchase with money from the running funds you sent to us last year. In my opinion the students should not only be taught by use of the gadgets, they should also be exposed to the DVD's.
I use this opportunity to thank James Ricketts for the TEACHER TRAINING MUST WATCH
video. I received from him on Wednesday, 16th September, 2015. They were very helpful during the seminar.
I will also like to inform you that all the Schools involved in Opportunity Education have had the Grade III and Grade IV Materials supplied to them.
The Opportunity Education Family (seminar participants) in the Archdiocese of Bamenda send you their greetings. We are looking forward to seeing you during your upcoming visit to Cameroon.
