Heather Jensen-Smith / Creighton University School of Medicine
Heather Jensen-Smith received a Bachelor's degree in Biopsychology/Neuroscience from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Creighton University in 2006. She has taught high school, college and graduate students and has been involved in biomedical research for 15 years. As a research fellow at Creighton University, Dr. Jensen-Smith studies how certain life-saving antibiotics and over-the-counter drugs can cause permanent hearing loss. Her research is particularly important for generating hearing loss prevention and treatment strategies for developing countries that commonly use these cost-effective drugs. "I have a strong calling to introduce, educate and encourage children of all ages and backgrounds to explore science both in the lab and during our day-to-day lives. I am excited to be working with Opportunity Education to teach and inspire children throughout the world."
