I am from Pierce, Nebraska. I mold my life to the quote, “Be who you needed when you were younger.” That quote led me to education and Quest Forward since school is a significant environment in any young adult’s life. QFA’s school is smaller in population which I am accustomed to, being from a small town and attending a small state college for my undergraduate degree.
Roles at Quest Forward Academy
I am the first social worker at Quest Forward Academy Omaha. I began my journey in July 2020. I focus on integrating social and emotional awareness into the school’s culture and everyday climate. I also walk through social and emotional situations alongside students and their families to provide support and identify innovative solutions to varying problems and situations. I run a social advocacy club where we focus on awareness of social issues, increasing student empowerment and inclusion, and integrating community agencies into our school family. I enjoy the unique relationships I build with each student and family. Each relationship guides me to new personal discoveries that continue to drive me in doing my best to serve and help others.
I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Wayne State College. I have a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I have my provisional licenses as a Certified Master Social Worker and Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.
Before Quest Forward Academy
Prior to this role, I have served diverse individuals, families, and students as a homeless liaison for a public school district, a morning program coordinator for a public elementary school, and as an intake coordinator and case manager at a program for families experiencing homelessness. I also have experience working in child welfare, at a public defender’s office, at a private hospice agency, and at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge Omaha.
