Opportunity Education is a charitable foundation with the mission of developing and supporting life-changing learning programs for young adults worldwide. 

Founded in 2005 by entrepreneur philanthropist Joe Ricketts, Opportunity Education has supported programs in 12 countries across primary and secondary grades, serving over 1 million students and over 5,000 teachers in 1,500 schools.

Leveraging its expertise in learning science, Opportunity Education developed Quest Forward Learning, a method, curriculum, professional learning resources and classroom tools that promote student engagement and success through active learning and effective feedback. In 2017, we established two Quest Forward High Schools in the U.S., founded on the principles of Quest Forward Learning, and are now building out a national school network.

A Transformative Leadership Opportunity

Opportunity Education (OE) is seeking a visionary and results-oriented VP/GM to lead the strategic development, launch, and growth of Quest Forward Learning, a groundbreaking freemium subscription service aimed at transforming teaching and learning in the US and worldwide. Reporting directly to the President & COO, the VP/GM will play a pivotal role in developing the business, driving revenue growth, and expanding OE’s impact with teachers and students.

As the VP/GM Subscription Services, you will be responsible for building, launching, and scaling the Quest Forward Learning subscription service. This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record of driving revenue growth in subscription-based models, a deep understanding of the education landscape, and a passion for transforming the way young adults learn and succeed. Our ambitious vision for this role is to build and grow this exciting new subscription business to revenue exceeding $20M by 2030.  

High-Impact Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue growth strategy for Quest Forward Learning, aligning with Opportunity Education’s mission and objectives
  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of marketing campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of the subscription service
  • Build and manage a high-performance team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive customer acquisition and revenue generation
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships and alliances with school districts, educational institutions, commercial partners, and key stakeholders to expand market reach and drive customer acquisition
  • Oversee the development and execution of pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with market dynamics, customer value propositions, and revenue goals
  • Work closely with product development and school teams teams to identify market needs, prioritize enhancements, and drive continuous improvement of the Quest Forward Learning product collection
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track revenue growth, customer acquisition, and retention, providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new growth opportunities, emerging trends, and potential threats to the business
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, soliciting feedback, addressing concerns, and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
  • Drive operational efficiency and scalability of our products and services, optimizing processes, systems, and resources to support sustainable growth
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop annual revenue forecasts, budgets, and financial projections, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and resource allocation
  • Drive a customer-centric culture focused on optimizing NPS/customer experience and obsessing over value delivered to the schools and teachers and their students
  • Represent Opportunity Education and Quest Forward Learning at industry conferences, events, and speaking engagements, serving as a thought leader and ambassador for the organization.


The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, visionary leadership skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, education, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive leadership experience in product and general management, revenue/business development, or related roles, preferably within the B2C or B2B sectors, preferably in education/learning/personal development markets.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling subscription-based products or services, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and customer acquisition.
  • Direct P&L accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with educational institutions, organizations, and key stakeholders to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Strong general management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling, with the ability to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track revenue performance and inform decision-making.
